
Chaitali is a visual storyteller based in India.
She started out behind the camera as a photographer, shooting everything from portraits to weddings to editorial stories, before gradually stepping into filmmaking. With a background in journalism & design she has over 15 years of experience across photography, documentary films, branded content, and short-form storytelling.
She is the co-founder of Big Monkey Studios, a production house where she has directed, produced, and creatively led campaigns for brands like Royal Enfield, USAID, WWF, Rotary International, OnePlus, and Wellbeing Nutrition. Notable campaigns include Super Meteor 650, Bullet Meri Jaan, Before We Went Hunting (Hunter 350), and Revisiting the Royal Enfield Bullet alongside social impact films like India: 10 Years Polio Free (Rotary), Swachagrahi Stories (USAID), and environmental education campaigns with WWF.
Chomolungma Lam Thu (2021), a documentary that she co-directed and produced, won Best Short Doc at the Toronto Motorcycle Film Festival. Her photography has been featured in Travel + Leisure, Femina, and NDTV Goodtimes.
She was part of the UnderCurrent Film Lab (2022), and has consequently worked in the lighting departments of fiction projects including Girls Will Be Girls and Mirzapur 3.
Her strength lies in her visual sensibility, deep experience in post-production, and a collaborative approach to films. Her work often moves between the expansive and the intimate, drawn to stories of identity, environment, and culture.
